New Equinox Features and Facilities

At Equinox we believe that our online unit trust trading system is something really special. Together with our switched-on and knowledgable professional service centre consultants we offer an investment service that is unmatched in SA. BUT...we're never quite satisfied ourselves and are constantly tinkering and trying to improve on what we can offer you. In case you have missed them, here are just a few of the new features that we've recently introduced:

New Collection Order Limits

Equinox can now collect money from your bank account up to R500 000. This means that for investment orders up to a value of R500 000 you don't need to worry about depositing the money into our nominee bank account. Simply place your order, instruct us to collect, specify when we should collect and relax. Note that we'll email you to confirm receipt of your order and on completion of your order.

Of course, you need to make sure you have sufficient funds in your account on our collection date. We may charge an administrative hassle fee if you don't.

Telephonic Switch Instructions

Too busy to place your switch order on the internet? To save you even more time and hassle, you can now telephone us and place your order directly.  We'll ask you a few verification questions and place the order for you. Note that all calls will be recorded for your security and ours.

Phased-In Investment Orders

Phasing-in a large investment into a unit trust over a few weeks or a couple of months is a sensible way of ensuring that you don't happen to invest all your money on a day when the markets have peaked. It is also called 'rand-cost averaging' because it means you average your purchase cost over a period of time. Equinox allows you to do this within our switch functionality. Simply choose the period over which you wish to phase-in your investment and our system will automatically generate the orders to make this happen. For new investments, invest your lumpsum into a money market fund, then place a phased-in switch order into your chosen equity fund.

Statement Info Buttons

Your portfolio statements now have an 'Info' icon next to each fund. Clicking on this will bring up the fact sheet for that fund where you can view updated price, performance, holdings, fund managers and all the other detailed information that we provide.

PDF Print and Save

Printing or saving a page straight from your internet browser often results in a somewhat messy looking page. A PDF Print button now appears on the top right of your portfolio statements. Clicking on this automatically generates a neat PDF document that you can then save for future reference or print out as you wish.

Unit Trust Risk Indicators

Measuring and presenting investment risk is a contentious subject with no clear answers. However, in addition to the comprehensive information on every unit trust that we provide, we have now added a couple of features that give some indication of the relative risk that a fund might carry. Firstly, we provide a Risk Meter on each fund page that goves our assessment of the risk of the sector that the fund is in. Secondly, we also provide a measure of the Relative Price Volatility of the particular fund to the other funds in its sector. We expect to expand on this theme in future.
